It will still be warm outside in the Alamo City for a few more days, but incoming storms and a cold front could bring a 20-degree temperature drop to the San Antonio area, along with increased rain chances and long-awaited seasonal fall vibes.

The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio says a cold front is expected to move into Texas next week, bringing cooler, drier air to South Central Texas. Forecasters say the exact timing of the cold front remains uncertain, but rain chances are expected to increase between Tuesday and Thursday of next week, according to the agency’s 7-Day Forecast.

In the meantime, hot temperatures will stick around, with San Antonio forecast to reach 95 degrees on Sunday and again for part of Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday of next week, many areas across the region will see highs in the upper 80s and lows in the 70s.

For San Antonio, rain chances will hover around 15% on Sunday and into early next week, but precipitation becomes more likely Tuesday through Thursday, with the highest likelihood of showers and thunderstorms — 45% — on Wednesday, September 30.

The NWS said in a post on X that by Wednesday, several parts of South Central San Antonio will see high temperatures drop below 90 degrees. But for now, residents in San Antonio should expect mostly sunny, hot and dry conditions over the weekend through early next week, with highs in the 90s to near 100 degrees.
