One person died after a vehicle traveling north on Dallas Parkway crashed into a car going west on West Plano Parkway, officials said.

PLANO, Texas — One person died overnight after a vehicle allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a car on West Plano Parkway, police said. 

Plano police responded around 2 a.m. to a crash at the intersection of West Plano Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway access road, Plano police said in a press release. 

When police arrived, they found an unconscious 27-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not immediately identify the man.

Witnesses at the scene told police a Toyota Camry traveling north on the Dallas North Tollway access road ran a red light and crashed into a Dodge Dart traveling west on Plano Parkway, the release states. The Camry then hit a traffic signal pole, police said. 

The 38-year-old woman driving the Dart was uninjured, police said. 

The department is investigating the incident, and the intersection remained reopened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.Â
