SAN ANTONIO — A 38-year-old San Antonio man faces a first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping charge after investigators matched latent prints on a homicide victim’s rental car to his vehicle.
Mark Anthony Moran was arrested Sept. 23 after Bexar County Sheriff’s Office covert deputies tracked his white Chevrolet Tahoe to an apartment complex on Starcrest Drive and observed another man removing its license plates. Inside the SUV’s rear cargo area, investigators discovered faint marks resembling dried blood.
The charge stems from the death of 37-year-old Jamie Adolfo Rodriguez, whose body was discovered Sept. 6 on New Sulphur Springs Road. An autopsy determined Rodriguez died from a gunshot wound to the torso in a homicide linked to a dispute over $12,000 in stolen drug money.

Surveillance footage from Sept. 5 captured multiple armed suspects beating Rodriguez outside a home on Rivas Street, chasing him down when he attempted to flee, and forcing him into the back of a white SUV matching Moran’s vehicle.

During police questioning, Moran admitted to assaulting Rodriguez and driving the SUV after Rodriguez was forced inside, though he denied shooting him.
Co-defendants Carlos Alvidrez Jr., Amanda Ann Garza, and Francisco Garza also face felony charges related to the abduction, while a fifth suspect, Matthew Doria, remains at large. Moran was booked into the Bexar County Jail.
