After a 51-day standoff between federal agents and the Branch Davidians near Waco, Texas, dozens of people, including many children perished in a fire. What followed was one of the most complex mass-fatality identification efforts in Texas history. Students are invited to hear directly from Dr. Metcalf and Professor Eddings who will share their firsthand experiences with on-site recovery and body identification, walking through how investigators organized a large-scale response, which scientific methods they relied on to establish identity, and how they coordinated with law enforcement, medical examiners, and families.

This event will be held in honor of Crimonology and Criminal Justice Week.
