A 26-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday after a confrontation with a neighbor at a Southeast Side apartment complex, San Antonio police said.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. in the 3200 block of Bolmore Drive, near Pecan Valley Drive and Goliad Road.
Officers were called to the scene for reports of a shooting, and when they arrived found a man with gunshot wounds in his upper torso, according to a preliminary police report. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police took a 39-year-old man into custody for questioning after a brief foot chase near the scene, the report says. Police identified the man as the victim’s neighbor.
San Antonio police told reporters at the scene that the shooting occurred after a confrontation between a family and their neighbor.
The family was arguing outside their apartment when the neighbor left his unit and tried to end the argument, a police captain said. One of the family members told the neighbor to go back inside, and both the family and the neighbor returned to their respective apartments.
Soon after, the family resumed their argument in the courtyard of the apartment complex. The neighbor exited his apartment and began shooting, the police captain said. The man who had previously told the neighbor to return inside was shot in the neck and upper torso.
No other injuries were reported.
This is an ongoing investigation, police said.
