HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man died in the hospital after a rollover crash on US-90 in east Harris County on Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a major crash near 20700 US-90 at about 4:05 a.m.

Investigators said initial information indicates that the driver, identified as 40-year-old Paul Escobar, was driving eastbound in a 2020 Toyota Camry when he failed to stay in a single lane and left the roadway.

Escobar’s vehicle then hit a guardrail, followed by a cement wall, authorities said. The impact flipped Escobar’s vehicle before it stopped in the grass near the cement wall, officials said.

Deputies said Escobar was later extricated from the car by Crosby Fire Department crews. He was then taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries, officials explained.

HCSO said its Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
