A Houston ER nurse describes surviving three gunshot wounds after police said three innocent bystanders were shot on West Gray.
HOUSTON, Texas — Even though she relies on a walker to get around, Diamond Rose is grateful she survived three gunshot wounds to her legs.
“I consider myself blessed,” said Rose.
That’s because she knows it could have been worse.
“They removed the bullets from both knees and they had to wash it out and clean it out real good,” said Rose. “And then there was a bullet in my thigh that they couldn’t remove because they say it was too dangerous to remove.”

Houston police said Rose and two other innocent bystanders were shot early Sunday morning when someone started firing a gun during an argument along the 400 block of West Gray. Rose and her friends had just exited a nightclub.
“And then I started hearing what sounded like fireworks, going ‘pop, pop, pop,’” said Rose.
Rose thought her group was fine until she felt a stinging feeling in her legs, both of which remain heavily bandaged.
“But as I got to safety, I saw the blood dripping down, and so I took my pants off and I wrapped my pants around my leg to stop the bleeding,” said Rose.
Rose is an emergency room nurse at Memorial Hermann, where she insisted the ambulance transport her despite some concerns.
“I always said I never wanted to go in as a level one because when you go in as a level one they like strip you naked, and I’m like ‘I’ll be in front of all my coworkers,’” said Rose. “And that’s literally what happened.” “But they were great, they were really great.”
Friends and family are helping support Rose and her young son through a GoFundMe., among other things. She said thinking of him also helped her push through.
“That is why I wanted to make sure I was okay, so I could like survive and be here for him,” said Rose.
HPD has not made any arrests related to this incident. Anyone with information is asked to report it.
