A Houston-area high school fired its head football coach Saturday after he was arrested on charges of indecency with a child and sexual performance by a child.
Nicholas Alan Codutti, 43, was directed to step away from Klein High School in May after the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) confirmed it was investigating allegations involving Codutti and a Tomball High School student dating back to 2018. Codutti was arrested Saturday and booked into Harris County Jail. Klein Independent School District (Klein ISD) then terminated Codutti’s employment upon learning of his arrest.
Klein ISD says Codutti successfully completed all necessary background checks before being hired as the high school’s head football coach in January 2025. Codutti was announced as the school’s athletic director in February 2025.
“Since we first learned of these allegations and informed Klein High staff and families in May 2026, Nick Codutti has remained on administrative leave and away from students,” Klein High School principal Shannon Strole said in a statement released Saturday. “Upon receiving this information from law enforcement regarding criminal charges, his employment with Klein ISD has been terminated.
“At the time of hiring and thereafter, Klein ISD had no information related to the alleged conduct now resulting in criminal charges.”
Codutti joined Klein in 2025 after four years as the head football coach at Fulshear High School, roughly 30 miles west of downtown Houston. Klein was the offensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Tomball from 2015-21, where the alleged sexual abuse took place. According to police records, Codutti allegedly started a sexual relationship with a then-16-year-old student, which lasted for seven years.
