LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Summer hasn’t given up just yet, but it will feel fall-like by Tuesday.

Lubbock’s high temperature today was 89 degrees, while the ‘normal’ is 82 degrees for today.
We’ve had some mid and upper 90s this afternoon for communities in the eastern South Plains, generally along and east of the Caprock.
I don’t expect much change tomorrow, but by Tuesday most of the region will be in the upper 70s to low 80s for maximum temperatures.
The forecast will take a significant change by Tuesday with lower temperatures and increasing rain chances for the region.

I’m forecasting mostly 70s for max temps on Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances will like increase to a range of 70-90 per cent for all of the South Plains, eastern New Mexico and the Panhandle. The threat of local flooding will return.

There is the potential for First Alert weather days for Tuesday and Wednesday.
A combination of an upper level storm system moving across the southwest US and the remnants of Pacific tropical systems and their moisture will enhance the possibility of very heavy rainfall for our region.
