Another piece of the Cowboys’ defensive secondary could be looking at a lengthy absence.
After suffering a heap of injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) that safety Jalen Thompson is expected to be out for “at least four weeks,” meaning a stint on the injured reserve could be in Thompson’s future.
Thompson went down with a hamstring injury in the second quarter against the Ravens. The safety got caught in an awkward position and was down for a brief moment before he was helped off the field by members of the Cowboys’ training staff. Markquese Bell filled in for Thompson.
Thompson was one of the Cowboys’ biggest free agency signings in the offseason, signing a three-year deal worth up to $36 million. In three games this season he’s tallied 17 tackles and a QB hit.
The Dallas defense also saw CB Shavon Revel and DT Jonathan Bullard leave Sunday’s game with injuries.
