A healthcare aide was fatally shot and a 90-year-old man was critically wounded Monday afternoon at a southeast Houston home, police said.

Officers from the Houston Police Department responded to a home in the 15700 block of Panay Drive around 1 p.m. after receiving a report of a possible suicide in progress, a spokesperson with HPD homicide division said. Once there, they found one person dead and another person critically wounded.

FOX 26 reported that four people were inside the home when the shooting happened. The 90-year-old man was visiting an 87-year-old friend’s home when he allegedly shot and killed a healthcare aide in the residence.

He then walked off into the garage, and a friend of the health aide followed. A gunshot then went off inside the garage.

Police detained the man who entered the garage, and now investigators are trying to determine whether the 90-year-old man shot himself or was shot by another person.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
