StarCare Mobile Crisis Outreach Team offers 24/7 services for those struggling with day-to-day life

  • September 29, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Bobby Carter has been a part of StarCare for more than 18 years. Carter knows anyone can go through pain at any moment.

“It could just be someone like me and you,” Carter said. “We could be having a difficult time and we find ourselves in situations that maybe we cannot deal with, we cannot cope with.”

StarCare’s Mobile Crisis Outreach Team consists of 12 qualified mental health professionals providing crisis coverage 24/7 for individuals experiencing mental health care struggles.

Carter says there’s a few signs to look out for if you think someone is having trouble in their life.

“Losing interests in things you normally find enjoyment in, extreme isolation from the people around you, increased sleep, decreased sleep,” Carter said. “Could be increased appetite, could be decreased appetite.”

StarCare’s team can provide people with a crisis assessment, support services and, finding a way to resolve a crisis situation with a person-centered approach. Carter suggests approaching the situation appropriately to those who know someone experiencing struggles.

“I urge people to ask open-ended questions,” Carter said. “You seem like you’re having a difficult time, please help me understand what’s going on. Tell me what’s going on, what are some ways that I can help you?”

The CDC recently found an estimated 14.3 million adults seriously thought about suicide in 2024, making services like these even more important.

The outreach team is available for residents in five counties (Cochran County, Crosby County, Hockley County, Lubbock County, Lynn County), and to receive service call (806) 740-1414.

Carter urges people to use this opportunity and take control before it too late.

“I urge people that as soon as these thoughts start creeping in to reach out and try and get help,” Carter said. “The likelihood of success is going to increase and it’s going to make it much easier for you to work through the situation.”
