SAN ANTONIO – Tx — 210 La Chismosa is planning a new party now that NIOSA is canceled next year.
When the Conservation Society of San Antonio announced they couldn’t host NIOSA next year due to the financial cost, Cecilia Chavez, the creator of 210 La Chismosa decided to step up with an alternative for the Fiesta favorite. Some are calling it NIOSA 2.0.
Chavez says it’s not the official name of the party, but it will fill a void next year. She says it’s an event that everyone can afford, with ticket prices ranging between $15 and $20.
“I just want the community to know we’re not competing with anyone,” Chavez said. “We’re not trying to replace anything. They’re not doing it this year, so we want to fill that in and bring something back to the community.”
The event will be held at the King of Padel Sports and Entertainment Center. The proceeds will go to the Hope and Heart Foundation that helps families dealing with pediatric cancer, sickle cell disease, and child loss. Jason Massiatte the foundations president says the proceeds will help them expand their outreach.
“Our social determination of help is lights, bill-pay, mortgage, and groceries, which is extremely important right now,” Massiatte said.
Chavez is recruiting volunteers and sponsors to help with the $200,000 price tag to host the event. She says the event’s official name will be announced later this week.
