AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is honoring more than 2,100 veterans within its ranks this Veterans Day, acknowledging their continued commitment to serving the people of Texas. “Our veterans exemplify the very best of our department and our state,” said DPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin.

DPS proudly includes 2,168 veterans from every branch of the U.S. military, including 935 from the U.S. Army, 496 from the U.S. Marine Corps, 217 from the U.S. Navy, and 184 from the U.S. Air Force, among others. These veterans, both commissioned and noncommissioned employees, bring invaluable experience and a steadfast commitment to service, according to a press release from the department.

Chief of the Training Operations Division Derek Prestridge encouraged veterans and active-duty service members to consider joining DPS. “DPS offers an opportunity to continue a life of service with purpose,” he said.
