Lammes Candies first opened in Texas’ capital city back in 1885, becoming a Lone Star staple for its renowned chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-covered pralines. In spring 2026, the business confirmed that all of its retail locations — including its original and flagship store at 5330 Airport Blvd., Austin, TX 78751 — would be closing.
“This was not an easy decision,” the company’s ownership team said in a release at the time. “Lammes Candies has been more than a business — it has been a family legacy spanning generations. We are deeply grateful to our employees, customers and community for their unwavering support over the past 141 years.”
Now, that 141-year legacy will continue, with Lammes Candies now under new ownership and reviving the classic Texas brand. Owners confirmed the news in a social media post on Tuesday, September 29, dubbing it “a sweet comeback.”
“Lammes Candies is under new ownership, and our first order of business was simple: don’t mess with 141 years of goodness. Don’t worry. The recipes, premium ingredients, and values that built this Texas legacy aren’t changing,” new business owners wrote. “Whether it’s at your team’s tailgate, under the Christmas tree, or passed around at a family reunion, we’re passionate about keeping those traditions alive and making a few new memories along the way.”
Those looking for a bite of nostalgia can pre-order sweet treats online, including the Texas Chewies, chocolate-covered pralines, Texas flag pralines and sherbet mints.
