San Antonio police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest after releasing surveillance video tied to a fatal shooting near Hemisfair.

Investigators said the video shows a man they are seeking to identify in connection with the Aug. 30 killing of 35-year-old Jonathan Alderete in the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way.

According to police, the man was recorded at the Denny’s on East Commerce Street before the shooting. He is described as being between 20 and 24 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, and having long dread-style hair.

The surveillance video shows the man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and red shorts. Police have identified him only as a person of interest and have not said what, if any, role they believe he played in the shooting.

According to SAPD, officers responded to the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way on Aug. 30 after receiving reports of a shooting and found Jonathan Alderete suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said Alderete and 23-year-old Isean Hardeman got into a physical altercation over property before Hardeman allegedly shot Alderete and left the scene.

Hardeman was arrested Sept. 3 and charged with murder.

Police ask anyone who recognizes the person of interest or has information about him to contact SAPD Homicide at 210-207-7635.
