Kacey Musgraves is bringing a distinctly Texas sound to the homecoming stop on her latest tour, which supports her 2026 album, Middle of Nowhere. The eight-time Grammy Award winner was born and raised in the tiny East Texas town of Golden — roughly 70 miles away from Dallas — and has increasingly made her Texas roots central to her musical identity.

After cutting her teeth at various North Texas venues including the Fort Worth Stockyards, Musgraves broke through nationally with her 2013 debut, Same Trailer Different Park. The album’s sharp, observant songs “Merry Go ’Round” and “Follow Your Arrow” established her as a country songwriter willing to challenge the genre’s conventions. Her 2018 album Golden Hour broadened her audience with songs including “Butterflies,” “Slow Burn” and “Rainbow,” while winning the Grammys for album of the year and best country album.

The 38-year-old leaned into her Texas ties on her latest album. Middle of Nowhere draws on the sounds and culture of Texas dance halls, blending traditional country with norteño and zydeco influences and creating music designed for two-stepping. The title itself comes from a sign in Musgraves’ hometown: “Golden, Texas: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere.”

Fans at American Airlines Center can expect a show that balances those newer songs with favorites from across her catalog. Texas singer-songwriter William Beckmann will open both Dallas shows.
