El Paso Electric makes progress on weather-related outages
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Electric crews have been battling outages all over the Borderland on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
At one point, there were 62 outages stretching from Salem and Garfield, New Mexico, to San Elizario in East El Paso County, impacting more than 15,000 customers.
As of about 6 p.m., about 800 customers were still without power from 20 outages, El Paso Electric reported.
El Paso Electric reported that all outages were weather-related.
“We anticipated impacts from today’s storms and activated an incident response plan earlier today to deal with the impacts. Crews are assigned and working to restore service as safely and efficiently as possible. We appreciate customers’ patience as our teams work through the conditions,” El Paso Electric said.

Six utility lines also toppled along Woodrow Bean Transmountain Road after power was lost. Residents in the area said they had been without power since about 3 p.m. The road where the powerlines fell remains closed as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
FitFam shared photos showing downed utility poles near Rushing and Fairbanks in Northeast El Paso.
