It’s a reunion on multiple fronts for a former Texas TV reporter who’s heading back to the Lone Star State – and reuniting with his meteorologist fiancée.

Brandon Schaff, a former sports anchor and news reporter at KIII in Corpus Christi, announced on Sunday, September 27 he would be returning to Texas for his next professional opportunity after an approximately yearlong stint at WTHR, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis. Originally from the Chicago area, it marked Schaff’s return to the Midwest after he earned his bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Bloomington and a master’s degree from Medill at Northwestern University, per his WTHR bio page.

Now, Schaff’s move back to Texas will trade in the Texas Gulf Coast backdrop for the state capital. Schaff revealed he will join Austin’s ABC affiliate station, KVUE, as a reporter.

The Central Texas transfer also signifies Schaff’s reunion with his fiancée, KVUE meteorologist Kristin Walla. She joined KVUE in May 2026, with her bio page noting she met her fiancée while also working at KIII.

“My next chapter takes me back to Texas. I’ll be rejoining my fiancée [Kristin Walla] as a reporter at KVUE in Austin. I can’t wait to call the Lone Star State home again!” Schaff wrote, adding: “I’ll always appreciate the Hoosier hospitality everyone showed me while I was here. I’ll be a Hoosier for life!”
