LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock-Cooper ISD’s director of career and technical education, Dr. Sarah Allen, has died. The district announced her death on its Facebook page.
Allen worked with Lubbock-Cooper ISD as a teacher and director for 15 years.
Services for Allen will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
Allen established the district’s Culinary Arts program, starting with an after-school cooking club and developing it into what the district called one of the most respected school culinary programs in Texas.
Allen was named National Teacher of the Month in 2021 and Texas Family and Consumer Science Teacher of the Year in 2024, according to the district.
“Beyond her impressive achievements as an educator, Dr. Allen was a deeply cherished friend and colleague, and an inspiration and cheerleader for all students. She opened doors for Lubbock-Cooper students and staff, loved them, advocated for them, and introduced them to opportunities they may not have even known existed without her guidance and encouragement,” the district shared.
The district extended thoughts and prayers to Allen’s family, staff, students and families “whose lives she touched,” according to the Facebook post.
