For many veterans, service does not end when they return home. The path forward can bring new challenges, and support from people who understand that journey can make a real difference. This month, Goettl Air Conditioning & Plumbing is shining a light on the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation through its Kindness in the Air initiative, recognizing the nonprofit’s work to stand beside veterans who have served and sacrificed for the country.
Founded in 2007, the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation helps wounded veterans and their families navigate life after combat through financial assistance, therapeutic programs, and opportunities to reconnect with those around them. From emergency financial assistance and transportation to medical appointments, home modifications, and therapeutic retreats, the foundation helps bridge the gap when military benefits are delayed or don’t fully meet a family’s needs. Texas is home to one of the nation’s largest populations of wounded combat veterans, making the organization’s mission especially important.
Since its founding, the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation has raised more than $8 million, helped more than 1,000 warriors and their families, and completed more than 400 events that support healing and recovery. From adaptive golf programs to retreats and community events, every initiative helps veterans regain confidence while connecting with others who understand their journey. For many veterans, the journey home doesn’t end when military service does. Organizations like the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation help ensure they don’t face that next chapter alone.
What began as a single golf outing has grown into a statewide mission. Foundation leaders saw how time on the golf course helped wounded veterans rebuild confidence, strengthen relationships, and focus on recovery. Today, golf remains a cornerstone of the organization’s therapeutic programs, offering more than recreation. It helps veterans heal physically and emotionally, strengthen family bonds, and reconnect with their community.
Through Kindness in the Air, Goettl is proud to spotlight organizations like the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation that are helping veterans heal, reconnect, and build stronger futures. Partnering with local nonprofits is one way Goettl extends its commitment beyond home services and into the neighborhoods it serves. As Kindness in the Air continues throughout the year, Goettl encourages community members to get involved by nominating nonprofits that are making a positive impact in the Austin community.
