After three decades in San Antonio television, longtime station executive Dean Radla is retiring.

Radla, the longtime general manager of News 4 San Antonio, FOX San Antonio and CW35, retired Tuesday after 30 years with Sinclair Broadcast Group, according to a Wednesday announcement from News 4 San Antonio.

A native Texan and lifelong South Texas resident, Radla joined Sinclair in 1997 as the stations’ director of sales before becoming general manager. He spent the past 14 years overseeing the operations of the three San Antonio stations.

But Radla’s media career also predates his time with Sinclair. In 1979, Radla graduated from Southwest Texas State University — now Texas State University — with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising

After that, he spent more than eight years in print media sales management, including a stint at the San Antonio Light, before returning to television. Now, following a 30-year career with Sinclair, Radla said he is looking forward to spending more time with his family, including his seven children and 11 grandchildren.

“News 4 San Antonio, FOX San Antonio, and CW35 wish Dean the best in retirement,” the stations wrote.
