AUSTIN, Texas — Before stepping into a new chapter, We Are Austin’s friendly neighborhood paleontologist had one last question: How much had the hosts actually learned?

Dr. Liam Norris joined Sierra Waggoner and Trevor Scott for a special “I Didn’t Know That!” game show, turning his final segment into a friendly competition filled with dinosaur trivia, laughter and a heartfelt farewell.

The game revisited topics from previous segments, including long-necked sauropods, dinosaur fossils at Big Bend National Park and the connection between dinosaurs and modern birds.

“We’ve covered so much during our show,” Norris said. “We’re going to put your knowledge to the test.”

Putting prehistoric knowledge to the test

With Norris taking over hosting duties, Sierra and Trevor selected questions from categories including “Dino Basics,” “Predators and Prey” and “Time Travel.”

Each question carried a point value, and a missed answer gave the other host a chance to steal.

Before saying goodbye, Sierra and Trevor turned the questions back on Norris with a bonus category called “Things We Knew.”

There were hints, surprising answers and even a phone-a-friend option, with Norris himself available to help.

After the final tally, Sierra took first place with 1,000 points, while Trevor finished with 500.

Two answers the hosts knew by heart

Before saying goodbye, Sierra and Trevor turned the questions back on Norris with a bonus category called “Things We Knew.”

The first clue described an Austin destination where visitors can discover Texas’ natural history. Norris correctly named the Texas Science & Natural History Museum.

The second celebrated the “friendly neighborhood paleontologist” whose talent, knowledge and charm had become part of We Are Austin history.

“Oh, you’re going to make me cry,” Norris said.

The moment gave the hosts a chance to thank him for making science accessible, memorable and fun throughout his visits.

“It has been such a special opportunity getting to do this,” Norris said. “I love getting to come see y’all. So thank you for having me.”

While Norris is beginning a new era, viewers can continue exploring at the Texas Science & Natural History Museum on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
