Two teens drowned after a kayak capsized in the choppy water of the Trinity River Sunday night, San Jacinto sheriff Sam Houston said in a statement.
Deputies responded to Camilla boat ramp after witnesses reported that the two teens were missing after a kayak overturned, Houston said.
The teens’ bodies were recovered, and a man who jumped in to try and save them did not resurface and was still missing as of Tuesday.
The man was the father of one of the teens, Houston said.
The San Jacinto County game wardens are leading the investigation with assistance from the sheriff’s office and local emergency response teams, Houston said.
