Students to assist with screenings
Pre-health studies students at LCU are volunteering their Saturday after giving up a Friday to learn how to help the doctors and make the check-in process faster.
“It’s a free opportunity to get a skin care screening from experts in the field that do this on a regular basis, so no cost to you,” said Toby Rogers, Ph.D., dean of the LCU College of Science and Health Professions.
“So it’s a great opportunity for our pre-health students to get exposure to medical care, skin cancer specifically, to learn how to interact with patients and learn about the screening process,” Rogers said.
The goal is to get as many people as they can through the Sun Bus on Saturday to look for skin cancer.
No appointment necessary
No appointment is needed to visit the Sun Bus. It will be parked outside Lubbock Impact at 34th Street and Boston Avenue, with skin cancer screenings provided between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
