Gray clouds rolled into South-Central Texas overnight, bringing heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds throughout the day. MySA asked readers to share photos and videos of the storm, and the submissions showed dark clouds, wet streets and high water near highways.

Heavy rain arrived as a cold front from the west moves east, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). San Antonio is under a Flash Flood Warning until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 1. Much of the region is also under a Flood Watch.

Severe conditions are causing widespread disruptions across the state. The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area shut down all of its climbing trails, including its popular Summit Trail. Meanwhile, flights at the San Antonio International Airport (SAT), Austin Airport (AUS), Dallas Love Field, and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were temporarily delayed after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued ground stops. SeaWorld and CPS Energy’s walk-in customer service centers also closed amid the threat.

Forecasters expect isolated pockets of rain, with totals of 6 to 8 inches, to fall through Friday, October 2. The NWS said on Wednesday, September 30, that the rain would come in two rounds: the first began Wednesday night and continued intermittently through the afternoon. The second will occur tonight and last on and off through Friday morning.
