October 11 is celebrated internationally as the Day of the Girl and this morning we had Carmen Lidia Fajardo join us from the Madrina Project and Stephanie Finleon Cortez from Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas here to tell us about a special event they are hosting for the day.
Day of the Girl SA is an initiative led by the Girl Scouts, and they welcome other organizations to help boost girl’s confidence, spread information, and so much more! The Madrina Project is a part of this initiative and they come to the event to encourage girls to be who they are. This year they are helping girls make pipe cleaner crowns!
The Madrina Project helps take care of girls who may not have the money for dresses and other formal wear for prom, dances, weddings, and so much more.
If you would like to get involved with the Girl Scouts, you can head over to their website to learn more!
