A northwest Dallas nightclub was heavily damaged Friday in an early-morning fire that forced firefighters to retreat and battle the blaze from outside, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.
Firefighters were dispatched about 3:02 a.m. to DG’s Night Club, located at 2117 W. Northwest Highway, and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the large, one-story building.
Crews initially entered the nightclub and attacked the fire with hand lines, but firefighters soon discovered flames had spread into concealed spaces throughout the building and were already in an advanced stage, according to a DFR news release.
Firefighters were pulled from the building, and a second alarm was called. Crews then shifted to a defensive attack, using ground lines and three aerial ladder pipes to pour water onto the fire from outside.
Flames broke through the roof across much of the building, causing significant damage.
No one was reported inside the nightclub when the fire began, and no injuries were reported during the response, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.
The fire was declared extinguished at 7:45 a.m.
The cause is listed as undetermined.
