In a statement to MySA, ACL’s promoter, C3 Presents, said Friday morning, October 2 that no changes have been made to the schedule as a result of the weather. Organizers sent out a mass text to ACL attendees noting the show must, indeed, go on.

“Happy Weekend One! Doors open on time at 12pm [noon],” the text read in part. “Be prepared for wet conditions. Rain jackets along with rain boots are recommended. Let’s have some fun today!”

The National Weather Service’s Austin and San Antonio office issued earlier this week a flood watch, in effect from 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30 through 7 p.m. on Friday. ACL’s promoter, C3 Presents, alongside city officials have been closely monitoring storm conditions all week and have encouraged those attending Weekend 1 of ACL to be weather aware, including bringing ponchos, rain coats, water-resistant shoes and other essentials amid the inclement weather.

As a rain or shine event, ACL Music Festival historically has only canceled or delayed festival dates due to weather conditions threatening public safety. Just one total day of the festival — Sunday, October 13, 2013 — was canceled due to heavy rainstorms, while organizers delayed the start of opening day back on Friday, October 1, 2021.

Organizers have been sharing weather updates via ACL Music Festival’s social media channels this week, as well as directly via text messages to attendees. Those interested in signing up for SMS alerts can text “ACL” to 64934.
