SAN ANTONIO – After a motorcyclist died while racing downtown earlier this week, San Antonio police arrested the other driver involved in the crash.
On Friday, the San Antonio Police Department identified the driver as Armando Gonzales Jr., 33. Records show he was arrested and charged with racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury, which is considered a second-degree felony.
He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center early Wednesday morning.
Police responded to the crash Monday evening at the intersection of North Santa Rosa and West Commerce Street.
Police said the motorcyclist, Javier Romayor, 40, lost control during the race. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Gonzales was nowhere to be found as police were at the scene, according to an SAPD preliminary report. However, police eventually found and arrested Gonzales on Tuesday.
