LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – McDonald Capital Management (MCM) announced today that Eric McDonald, CFA, Founder, Chief Investment Officer, and Senior Portfolio Manager, has been appointed by Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows to serve a six-year term on the Board of Trustees of the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS), which oversees the retirement, insurance, and health benefits program serving Texas state employees, retirees, and their families.
“It is a real honor to be considered for this position by Speaker Burrows and I will do my utmost to serve the beneficiaries of ERS,” McDonald said. “I look forward to working with the Board and staff of the system for the employees of the great State of Texas.”

McDonald founded MCM in 1990 and has previously served as an investment advisor to the Permanent School Fund of Texas and as a Trustee of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, appointed by Governor Rick Perry. He holds a BBA from the University of Texas, an MBA from Texas Tech University, and was awarded the CFA Charter in 1993.
A lifelong West Texan, McDonald has been active in the Lubbock community, currently serving on the Lubbock Firefighters Pension Board, and as past president of the Greater Lubbock Rotary Club and the Lubbock Country Club, and on the boards or committees of the South Plains Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Ranching Heritage Association, the Texas Tech Student Managed Fund Advisory Committee, the Community Foundation of West Texas, the South Plains Fair, among others.
