HOUSTON – Houston Police Department Southwest Division officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 1:27 a.m. on Saturday at a residence in the 16600 block of Parkridge Court, according to HPD.

Police say two brothers became involved in a dispute that escalated into gunfire. Both men were struck; one was hit in the head, arm and leg. That man, identified by authorities as a 40-year-old, was transported by Houston Fire Department personnel to a hospital and listed in critical condition.

The other brother ran roughly 100 yards from the scene before police said he shot himself in the head. Officers located him at the secondary scene and pronounced him deceased. His identity and age have not been confirmed by police, though he was described as appearing to be in his late 30s or early 40s.

Investigators have not released details on what prompted the argument. The incident remains under investigation by HPD.

Further information, including official identifications and a possible motive, has not been released.
