MISHAWAKA Ind. (WSBT) — A Texas man is behind bars after barricading himself in a Mishawaka hotel on Saturday.

Mishawaka police responded to a call about an unwanted individual at the Country Inn & Suites on University Drive around 5:30 p.m.

The 56-year-old man from Copperas Cove, Texas, had checked into the hotel on Friday and had made the female desk clerk uncomfortable with his aggressive physical and verbal behavior.

He also reportedly made inappropriate comments to a female child.

When officers arrived to remove him from the hotel at the request of management, he barricaded himself in his room.

After more than an hour, he was taken into custody after chemical agents were deployed and a Taser was used.

The man was then transported to the hospital for medical clearance before being taken to jail.

He faces charges of Criminal Trespass, Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
