Richardson-based RealPage, a leading provider of AI software platforms for the real estate industry, has appointed Dirk Wakeham as its new president and CEO.
Wakeham previously served as managing director for Vista Equity Partners and was president of RealPage following its acquisition of LeasingDesk, the company he founded. He previously led software-related firms Zego, Kibo, Lanyon, storEDGE as well.
Wakeham succeeds Dana Jones, who has served as RealPage’s President and CEO since 2021. Wakeham also joins the company’s board of directors in conjunction with his appointment.
“Returning to RealPage feels like coming home,” Wakeham said in a statement. “I’m honored to step into this role at such an important moment for the company and our industry.”

RealPage’s software handles the marketing, leasing, operations and financials for over 24 million rental units worldwide. The firm’s headquarters is located at Lakeside Campus, a large office campus at Lakeside Boulevard in Richardson.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against RealPage in 2024, accusing the firm of taking part in an unlawful scheme to decrease competition among landlords in apartment pricing.
The company previously said it was willing to work with the DOJ to resolve concerns about the legality of its algorithmic pricing software.
State attorneys general and major landlords are currently sparring over proposed settlements in a separate 2023 class-action lawsuit over price-fixing allegations tied to the landlords’ use of RealPage’s rent-setting software, Multifamily Dive reported last week.
