A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with capital murder after a woman and another man were fatally shot outside a north Houston home Monday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
David Herrera was arrested Oct. 5, shortly after the shooting that killed 29-year-old Dariela Cardona and Erick Gerbitz.
The shooting was reported around 8:20 a.m. at a home in the 900 block of Lindale Street. Neighbors told police they heard gunshots before Cardona and Gerbitz were found dead in front of the home.
Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving Cardona and Herrera, possibly her ex-boyfriend. According to police, Herrera drove past the home and fired multiple shots.
After the shooting, Herrera allegedly fled the area.
Investigators used Flock cameras to locate Herrera near Dayton, where he was arrested.
