July 18, 1943 – Sept 16, 2026

A highly respected attorney in Lubbock, Texas, Dannie was known for fighting fiercely for her clients and refusing to back down when justice was on the line. She was sharp, relentless, and exceptionally talented in the courtroom. She graduated from Texas Tech Law School in 1982 and was also very active in the women’s movement. Those who loved Dannie will remember not only the battles she won, but the unconventional way she lived with passion, courage and style.

Dannie loved to travel and lived in the Middle East in the 1960’s with her Egyptian husband and two babies. In later years, with her husband, Roger Schaefer, she ventured throughout Europe before he passed in 2019. Her appreciation of different cultures informed her exceptional eye for art and design which was evident in her home.

Dannie was outrageous in every sense of the word—fun, fearless, larger than life, and always the center of a good story. She had a wit that could make a room erupt in laughter and an energy that was unwavering.

Bold, funny, and unforgettable, Dannie lived with conviction. She leaves behind a community of friends who adored her, a profession she elevated, and a legacy of strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The world is truly a little less colorful without her.

Dannie leaves behind her two daughters, Danielle Rose Botros, her husband, Michael Ross, Sheridan Patricia Botros, all of Marin County, CA; her siblings: Bill Boswell, his wife, Ana, Rose Clary, her husband Don, all of Denver; Patsy Smith, her husband, Page, of Alexandria, VA and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, at 2 PM at St Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2807 42nd St, Lubbock, TX. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Meals on Wheels.
