Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, ranked one of the best barbecue restaurants in Texas but also known for some of the shortest hours, has extended its work week by adding a Thursday lunch menu.
Goldee’s now opens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, expanding from its former Friday-Sunday schedule.
The core menu is made up of traditional Texas barbecue classics: sliced or chopped prime brisket; housemade regular, jalapeno-cheddar or Lao sausages; beef, pork or lamb ribs; plus sides and house-baked bread.
The restaurant, in a nearly 60-year-old barbecue shack at 4645 Dick Price Road south of Kennedale, was opened in 2020 by former junior high school classmates from Arlington and was quickly named the No. 1 barbecue joint in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine,

That triggered statewide interest in Fort Worth as the “barbecue capital of Texas” and led to other statewide rankings for restaurants such as Panther City BBQ in Fort Worth, Dayne’s Craft Barbecue in Aledo, Smoke-A-Holics BBQ in Fort Worth and Hurtado Barbecue in Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas and Mansfield.
Goldee’s went on to win Michelin Guide “Bib Gourmand” awards in 2024 and 2026 for food and value. Co-founders Jalen Heard, Lane Milne and Jonny White were listed among “Best New Chefs” in Food & Wine magazine.
White has gone on to open a New York restaurant, Kirbee’s. He has been replaced at Goldee’s by Texas Monthly top 10 pitmaster Zain Shafi, formerly of Sabar BBQ in Fort Worth.
The restaurant has also added online advance ordering at goldeesbbq.com.
Goldee’s is 4 miles south of Interstate 20 off Mansfield Highway. From Interstate 35W, it is 6½ miles east via Everman Parkway and Shelby Road; facebook.com/goldeesbbq.
