A student at the University of Texas at Arlington was allegedly sexually assaulted in a campus dorm last month, officials said.
In an email sent to the campus community on Oct. 1, UTA police informed students of the incident that occurred on or about Sept. 15, school officials said.
The alleged assault took place in West Hall and the student reported that a second sexual assault occurred shortly after in a restroom in the same building, according to the email.
The reporting student knows the alleged offender but has not provided the offender’s identity to UTA police, officials said. UTA police believe the alleged offender is a student who resides in West Hall.
“The University of Texas at Arlington is aware of the reported incidents and is providing appropriate support and resources to those impacted. UTA Police is investigating, and the University has notified the campus community in accordance with federal requirements. At this time, the University has no information indicating an ongoing threat to the campus community. Because the matter remains under investigation, the University will not provide additional details,” university officials said in a statement.
UTA police asked anyone who has experienced sexual assault or who has information concerning this incident to contact the UTA Police Department at 817-272-3381.
