HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of a 23-year-old man, whom authorities said was in an intimate relationship.

On Tuesday, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared that the incident happened Monday in the 4400 block of Sandydale Lane. Deputies were responding to a welfare check when they found 23-year-old Jose Orozco unresponsive inside the home with multiple stab wounds.

Authorities said Orozco was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gonzalez said detectives determined that Orozco and the suspect, who has been identified as 20-year-old Jaime Castillo, had been in an intimate relationship.

“This case is being investigated as an intimate-partner/domestic violence homicide,” Gonzalez said.

Castillo was found, taken into custody, and charged with murder. Authorities said Castillo was booked into the Harris County Jail.
