LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The City of Lubbock is celebrating two community members following national recognition for their leadership and service.
City leaders, including Mayor Mark McBrayer and Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia, honored Bienvenido founder Abraham Enriquez and One Guy From Italy owner Gabriel Vitela during a surprise event Tuesday at Bienvenido headquarters.
The two men were recognized for their leadership, community involvement and service to Lubbock and the Hispanic community.
The recognition comes after Vitela received national attention during a recent trip to Washington, D.C.
Last week, Vitela was invited to the White House for a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. During the event, President Donald Trump called Vitela to the stage, putting a national spotlight on the Lubbock business owner and his work in the community.
Tuesday’s event brought the recognition back home, with local leaders celebrating both Vitela and Enriquez for the impact they have made in Lubbock.
