Kennedale High School

A Kennedale High School student who died in a motorcycle crash last month is remembered by family and school officials as a kind and confident boy.

Brendon Burfield, 16, died in a motorcycle crash on Sept. 26, Kennedale High School Principal Michael Cagle wrote in a social media post.

The teenager loved Kennedale High School and was cherished by his classmates and teachers, the post read.

In a picture shared in the post taken on Fall Picture Day, Cagle said Burfield had relaxed smile and a sense of ease. “You wouldn’t know it by looking, but Brendon rarely lost a motorcycle race he entered; he was definitely a Wildcat,” Cagle wrote.

Cagle added that the photo showed a confident, brilliant, brave, polite, gracious, kind and gentle young man.

“Our hearts are completely shattered. Brendon was suddenly and tragically taken from us far too soon, with so much life ahead of him. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled,” family members wrote on a GoFundMe page created for funeral expenses.

The family described the teen as a fearless, curious and deeply imaginative young man with an ambitious spirit who inspired those around him.

“Rest in peace, Brendon. You will never, ever be forgotten. We love you always, and we will carry you with us in every moment forward,” the post read.

The fundraiser for Burfield had raised over $5,700 toward a $10,000 goal.
