Dak Prescott is 13-7 in 20 career games on Thursday Night Football, according to Statmuse, going 2-2 last year in four games against Philadelphia to open the season, Kansas City on Thanksgiving, Detroit the following week, and Washington on Christmas.

Prescott is hoping to bring his holiday luck, which included wins over KC and Washington, to the Cowboys’ first short week of the season.

“You turn the page, and you’re on to the Bucs and, you know, understand we’ve got a team coming here winless; how desperate they’re going to be. And it’s the NFL and the parity of it. And just knowing that we’ve got to go prove it again. Nobody cares about the win that happened last Sunday. It’s about what we do now. And it’s about us putting out our best version of ourselves come Thursday,” Prescott said.

Prescott said rest, watching film, the hot tub, sauna, and red light steams are all a part of his preparation process on a short week. He was seen with a wrap on his hand on Sunday, but said that will be no concern come kickoff.

“It’s going to be 100. That’s how much, you know, I love this game, how much I’ve put in this game throughout my life and through the offseason. You know, you prepare, and you condition. You do a lot of things for these types of moments. And, at the end of the day, you’re getting to play the game that you’re blessed to play, and you’re so fortunate to play, whether it be on a short week or back-to-back. If I had to play today, yeah, it might not be ideal, but I find a way, and I’d be 100%. And that starts with just mentality in your preparation,” Prescott said.

Dallas Morning News Cowboys reporter Calvin Watkins previews the Cowboys’ Thursday night matchup against the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including key injuries, Dallas’ newest addition and what it will take to build momentum with another win.

The Cowboys are hoping Pro Bowl guard Tyler Smith will make his first start of the season. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said it would be up to Smith.

Smith would bolster the run game and the left side of the line that’s been held down by Tyler Guyton, who has gotten a lot of praise for his play this season after a rocky first two years on the job.

“Excited for Tyler (Smith) to get back. And I know he’s chomping at the bit to do that. Hungry to be the player that he is and excited to watch (Smith and Guyton),” Prescott said. “It’s huge. I mean, running the ball is one of my favorite things. You wouldn’t think it, but what it does is allow the run action, the play action, to open up. And there’s no better time to play this game when you know the defense is trying to stop the run. And you’ve got guys like George (Pickens), CeeDee (Lamb) running down the field one-on-one.”

Prescott had even more praise for Pickens, who is off to a slow start statistically, but is being credited for drawing attention away from his teammates.

“(Pickens is) pulling two guys with him almost all the time. And I don’t know if he’s clearing guys out. Those are all real routes. And if you want to leave one guy on them, I’m going to throw it to him. And so that’s just making the defense show us what they want to do, you know, when we’re sending them deep,” Prescott said. “Winning is all that matters to him. And secondly, it’d be different if we weren’t giving him the opportunities or trying to, you know, and defenses weren’t just respecting him and taking him away. And so he’s a guy that’s smart, understands the game of football, and he knows when the defenses are playing him that way, the opportunity it gives other guys. And so, he’s a hell of a teammate.”

Prescott said that while CeeDee got all the accolades on Sunday, it was a team effort to protect him in the pocket and free Lamb up down the field.

CeeDee Lamb hauled in a career-high 17 catches for 189 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a huge performance against the Texans.

Prescott was also asked about his lofty preseason mantra: “Greatest Offense There Is (GOTI).” Prescott said he lives without regret.

“We’re, what, four games in? I think we can get better. Am I complacent with what we’ve done? Absolutely not. Do I think what we’ve done is enough? Absolutely not. Do I still believe that that’s who we are and that’s what we’re going to be? Damn right.” Prescott said. “They can find numbers for everything. I’m not a guy that gets caught in the numbers, in the stats and the records.”

“You won’t catch me saying I regret anything,” Prescott said.

The Cowboys lead the NFL in points per drive (3.39); they’re third in points per game (30.5) and 12th in total yards (1,390). Lamb leads the league in catches and yards.
