EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso residents are invited to pull on their cowboy boots and head Downtown Friday for a free National Cowboy Boot Day celebration at San Jacinto Plaza.

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department and Live Active El Paso are hosting the event in collaboration with the El Paso Ballroom Dance Academy from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.

The celebration will feature live music, two-stepping, line dancing, a line dance competition and a performance by Fair Point Band.

We’re excited to bring Cowboy Boot Day back to Downtown El Paso for a second year and continue celebrating our community’s Western spirit,” Parks and Recreation Director Pablo Caballero said. “From the music and dancing to the cowboy boots that are part of our City’s heritage, this event is a fun way for families, friends and visitors to come together and celebrate what makes El Paso unique.

The event will also recognize El Paso’s designation as the official Boot Capital of Texas, celebrating the city’s Western heritage and cowboy boot craftsmanship.

Those wanting to compete in the National Cowboy Boot Day Line Dance Competition can register for free, but must sign up by 5 p.m. Friday. Registration is available here.
