An Afghan national who lived in Fort Worth pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to threatening to conduct a suicide attack in November 2025, according to a Department of Justice news release.
Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, 31, faces up to five years in prison, officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas said in the release. His sentencing date has not been scheduled.
Court documents show that Alokozay participated in an online video chat group with several other people on Nov. 23, 2025, according to the release. At least one of the other participants, identified in the release as Victim 1, was also from Afghanistan.
“Alokozay and the others exchanged highly offensive insults based on longstanding tribal animosity,” the release states. “Alokozay threatened to conduct a ‘suicide attack’ against Victim 1 and the others using a ‘suicide bomb.'”
Some of the exchange was recorded and uploaded to TikTok, and Alokozay was arrested on a charge of making terroristic threats. A search of Alokozay’s home and cell phone showed “he had no bomb making materials,” the release states. Authorities concluded he didn’t actually intend to carry out an attack.
Ryan Raybould, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, said threatening a suicide attack is a crime, not a joke or momentary outburst.
“The United States has zero-tolerance for any threat to engage in a suicide attack or mass casualty event,” Raybould said in the release. “We will respond swiftly and decisively to ensure that anyone who engages in this type of behavior faces serious federal consequences.”
