The office of Harris County judge –– the chief executive of the nation’s third-largest county –– manages the county’s Office of Emergency Management and presides over Commissioners Court, the five-member body that controls funding for infrastructure projects, county departments and elected offices.
Two-term incumbent County Judge Lina Hidalgo, a Democrat, is not seeking reelection. Democrat Letitia Plummer, a former Houston City Council member, and former county treasurer and Houston council member Orlando Sanchez, a Republican, are seeking the seat.
Plummer topped Sanchez in fundraising by more than $100,000 this summer in the race’s busiest period to date, though Sanchez held a small lead in total fundraising since launching his campaign in August 2025.
Plummer raised $641,030 between July 1 and Sept. 24, bringing her campaign’s total to $939,806. Sanchez, who launched his campaign roughly one month after Plummer, raised $535,296 during the latest reporting period, for a total haul of $970,916.
