A new cozy bookstore has opened in Blue Bonnet Circle with a tipsy twist.
Bluebonnet Books and Wine opened in early September from owner Dana St. Germain and her husband, Robert Costas. The shop just minutes away from TCU sells used books between $5 and $20.
Bluebonnet Books and Wine features hundreds of used books of all genres. Used means they have been on another store’s shelf before, not necessarily that all have been bought and read, owner Dana St. Germain says. Ella Gonzales egonzales@star-telegram.com
In addition to books of all genres, the shop plans to eventually serve wine and beer on tap once St. Germain attains the alcohol license. For now, Costas is handing out free glasses of wine as the coined store “sommelier.”
St. Germain told the Star-Telegram her mother was a middle school librarian and books have always given her the answer to everything she needs to know. She resigned from her corporate job to open the bookshop, which she said will also allow her to be more present with her daughter and son.
Since opening, she said she’s met more neighbors than ever who also live in the Bluebonnet/TCU area. She hopes the bookstore can become a place where people will hang out, meet new friends and find unexpected books.

One of the ways St. Germain is able to spend more time with her daughter is through their Friday evening book club for middle school girls. She said the club has kind of turned into an apprenticeship as the students help her with storekeeping and other chores.
On Thursdays at 10 a.m., toddlers can join Ms. Sue for story time and crafts. Details are posted to Bluebonnet Books and Wine social media pages.
Saturdays are for sourdough, as customers can place sourdough orders through Small Kitchen Sourdough to pick up (on Saturdays) at Bluebonnet Books and Wine.
Additionally, St. Germain is running a program called “this book made me think of you,” where bookworms can curate a monthly package of books for someone special. First, you meet with St. Germain to discuss the gift recipient’s personality, then she creates a package of 12 handpicked books.
St. Germain hopes to host more community events at her bookshop and will update the shop’s social media pages when that happens.
Bluebonnet Books and Wine provides guests will plenty of places to curl up with a book and a glass of wine. The store also hosts weekly clubs and story times. Ella Gonzales egonzales@star-telegram.com Bluebonnet Books and Wine
