LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Coronado Mustangs will look for their second victory of the season tonight as they host the Palo Duro Dons tonight on “Thursday Night Throwdown”, airing on KMYL 14.1/22.2, Optimum 6, DIRECTV 14, UVERSE 1014, and SIMULCAST KJ-CD 32.1.
In the second week of the year, the Mustangs had success on TNT when they defeated their crosstown rival Lubbock High Westerners 21-10, avenging last year’s 42-35 defeat. During the weekly LISD press conference, Coronado head football coach Andrew Roy says two of the key players- quarterback David Bawcum, and wide receiver Rebel Beckham will not be playing this evening because of injuries suffered last week at Wichita Falls Memorial.
In addition to dealing with injuries, Coach Roy knows it will be a challenge containing Palo Duro. The Dons have emerged as one of the most-explosive teams from the Panhandle. PD is riding a five-game winning streak, most recently a 35-7 drubbing of Abilene Cooper. The Dons have also averaged 39 points per game in their five wins.
The game kicks off 7 p.m. at PlainsCapital Park.
