However, the Aztec offense led by quarterback Brycen Booth and running back Kevin Samuel continued to light up the scoreboard. El Dorado led 40-10 at halftime. Parkland came to life in the second half a bit, but it was not enough to overcome the Aztec’s dominant first half.
Right next door the Americas Trailblazers defeated the Hanks Knights 50-9.
Americas moves to 2-4. Hanks falls to 3-3.
At halftime, Hanks led 28-14. In the second half, the Trailblazers rallied and would tie the game at 35 in the 4th. Both teams would trade blows throughout the 4th quarter. Late in the quarter, Austin Duecher ran for a 27-yard touchdown to give Hanks a 49-42 lead. Then with less than 30 seconds remaining, Maurice Edwards punched it in from a couple yards out to pull Americas within one. The Trailblazers elected to go for two and Edwards converted to send his team to victory.
Next Friday, El Dorado and Americas face off. Parkland will host Bel Air and Hanks will play at Horizon.
