EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Downtown El Paso is filled with art, music and creativity this weekend as Chalk the Block returns for its 19th year.
The free arts festival continues Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Downtown Arts District.
The festival features more than 200 local and visiting artists, along with a juried chalk art competition, interactive art installations, live music, an artisan marketplace and hands-on activities.
But one of the main attractions is the chalk art competition at San Jacinto Plaza.
Artists spent Saturday creating their designs, with awards scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors can also participate in Community Chalk, shop from local artisans and food vendors, and take part in activities hosted by City museums, libraries, La Nube STEAM Discovery Center, the Mexican American Cultural Center and other community partners.
And for the fourth consecutive year, Chalk the Block is also offering quiet hours from 10 a.m. to noon, with sensory kits, headphones, chalk holders, pre-visit guides and low-sensory spaces available.
The festival is presented by Raiz Federal Credit Union and produced by the City of El Paso’s Museums & Cultural Affairs Department.
