Fletchers Corny Dogs, run by Beck and William Fletcher, are a bestseller at the State Fair of Texas. For the couple, the fair is also where their love story began as young kids. “I started working on the counter when I was 11 years old. And he was working out at Big Tex, and I was working at another stand,” Beck told NewsNation’s Xavier Walton. “We would run the Midway together, ride rides together, have lunch together. And one year he goes why don’t you just go out with me. And I said no.” The now-successful stand has been a part of the fair for 84 years, but when it first opened, business was so bad the Fletchers had to give away free samples.
